Dexter the dinosaur and Pearl the cavegirl are the very best of friends. There's just one problem . . . Dinosaurs and Humans are not allowed to play together! Instead the two tribes can't stop bickering and squabbling. (No one remembers why. That's just the way it's always been.) But, when disaster strikes, can Dinosaurs and Humans learn to work together?

A rhyming prehistoric adventure about friendship, community and celebrating difference.

Reviews

Dexter the Dinosaur and Pearl the Cavegirl have somehow ended up friends even though everyone knows dinosaurs and humans can’t play together. But when disaster strikes can the two tribes put aside their differences and work together?

We absolutely loved this. It’s one of the best picture book stories we’ve read in a while and makes a great bedtime story, especially if your little one likes dinosaurs. The illustrations are bright and colourful with lots of things to see in the background. The characters of Pearl and Dexter are delightful - you totally believe in their friendship. The rhyme scheme is consistently good and gives a great rhythm to the story. It’s humourous and has a great message about how we can achieve more when we work together.

Overall - Brilliant!

“Told in rhyme, this unlikely adventure with themes of friendship, community spirit, and respecting and celebrating differences, offers plenty to ponder upon and discuss with young listeners, some of whom will doubtless enjoy pointing out the impossibility of the two sets of characters ever meeting. Matt Robertson’s delightfully daft scenes of dinosaurs and early humans certainly provide lots to explore and giggle over.”
